THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB TEEN IMPACT CENTER
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Danville Area is transitioning to become the Boys
& Girls Club Teen Impact Center. Our focus will be on delivering programs and
workforce activities for teens ages 12 – 18 and teen development.

While there are many programs for elementary school aged children, the teen
population is an underserved group in the afterschool space in Danville and
Pittsylvania County. The Boys & Girls Club Teen Impact Center will address
that shortfall in programming. The Teen Impact Center will provide a safe
space for teens while providing many opportunities for their growth.

Gary Terry, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs states that “It has been a goal to
create a teen center in the Danville/Pittsylvania County area. The teen center
will provide fun programming and exposure to various training opportunities to
reinforce what our teens are learning in school. The Teen Impact Center will
offer workforce readiness, family life skills, civic engagement to provide teens
with the opportunity to obtain community service hours, financial literacy, E sports, podcasting, 3D modeling, Agriculture, Art, photography, college field
trips, equestrian training, sports and many other activities.”

The Boys & Girls Club Teen Impact Center has established partnerships with
other afterschool youth programs to provide an umbrella of needed services
for our teens. In partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters, we can now provide
mentors for those youth that need someone to talk with. In partnership with
Community and Church Based Tutorial, we will be able to provide tutoring
services for those teens that may be struggling with academics. The
partnership with the Salvation Army will allow us to provide food to families in
need. In addition, we will have mental health awareness training with Danville
Public Schools, drug prevention training with RASAP and workforce-based
training using virtual reality technology with Project Imagine.

It is our goal to ensure that our teens have all the tools and experiences
needed to reach their highest potential in life.
